Syracuse University Kicks Off Modernization Project

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse University kicked off the first phase of a long-term plan to modernize the campus with the start of 120 construction projects this summer. Everything from $9 million technology enhancements to the installation of single-occupancy bathrooms in residence halls to ADA-compliancy upgrades are included in the long-term plan. Asnuntuck Community College Breaks Ground on Technology Center

ENFIELD, Conn. — Asnuntuck Community College celebrated the groundbreaking of the new 27,000-square-foot Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center building on July 20. When completed in spring 2017, the facility will include smart classrooms as well as laboratories dedicated to computing, 3-D printing, machining and metrology. Bethel-Tate School District Saves with Energy Improvements

BETHEL, Ohio — Only a year after completing energy-conservation projects, Bethel-Tate School District is seeing more cost and energy savings than expected. Bethel-Tate partnered with Monroe, Ohio-based Four Seasons Environmental Inc. to analyze existing utility bills, conduct an energy audit, recommend energy-conservation measures and pricing, and complete the construction of the projects.

California State University, Fullerton Integrates Solar Power

FULLERTON, Calif. — California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and San Jose, Calif.-headquartered SunPower Corp. announced June 28 that construction is now underway on a 4-megawatt SunPower solar power system at three university parking areas. CSUF will purchase the emission-free solar power generated by the system under a power-purchase agreement, enabling the university to offset more than one-third of its peak electrical load and potentially saving millions of dollars in electricity costs over almost 20 years, according to a statement by CSUF.

Sheldon ISD Invests $285 Million in New Construction, Upgrades

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — The Sheldon Independent School District (Sheldon ISD) located in unincorporated northeast Harris County will soon embark on a $285 million bond program. The bond program is the largest in the school district’s history and will support a number of new construction projects, system upgrades, technology improvements, and additions and renovations to existing facilities.

The school district selected Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc. (LAN) of Houston to serve as program manager for the bond program.
