$250M Kent State Construction Project on Hold

KENT, Ohio — A financing snag has derailed the proposed renovation and construction plan at Kent State – at least for the time being.

Aerospace Research Facility Coming to Virginia Tech

HAMPTON, Va. — Commercial developer Concord Eastridge has been selected by Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University to develop a research facility for the National Institute of Aerospace.
 
The 57,411-square-foot, highly specialized research facility is designed to further research and graduate education in leading-edge aerospace and atmospheric research.

$45 Million Gift to Fund New Academic Center

PHILADELPHIA — Drexel University has received a $45 million gift from financier and corporate executive Bennett S. LeBow, chairman and CEO of Borders Book Group, which will go toward construction of a new academic center for the College of Business, which was named in LeBow’s honor in 1999.
 
Drexel President John A. Fry says the gift is the largest donation to the university from a single donor and the largest by an alumni benefactor.

Education Center to be Named after Food Processor

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — In recognition of its longstanding relationship with food processing manufacturer Cuisinart, the College of Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University institution will officially name its new 82,000-square-foot, eco-friendly education facility the Cuisinart Center for Culinary Excellence, at a dedication ceremony in December.
 
The LEED-certified facility is a “pioneering example of education meeting environment,” officials at JWU say.
