New Indoor Baseball Stadium to Cover All Bases

LINCOLN, Neb. — As part of a two-part project to expand the school’s athletic facilities, University of Nebraska at Lincoln will construct an indoor baseball/softball practice facility at Haymarket Park.

The distinction between warm-weather schools and those in colder region becomes apparent when schools first start out the season. According to reports, the team has previously had to go to other facilities to practice indoors during bad weather.

$34 Million UON Building Awarded LEED Gold

OMAHA, Neb. — The University of Nebraska at Omaha achieved LEED Gold certification for Mammel Hall, the new home to the College of Business Administration and the first building in the University of Nebraska system to achieve LEED Gold.
 
The $34 million, 120,000-square-foot building opened in August 2010 after about two years of construction.
 
The building’s green features include a community-based design, access to public transportation, and daylight in 75 percent of the rooms.

Tennessee State University received a $1.3 million grant to create the Tennessee State University Interdisciplinary Graduate Engineering Research (TIGER) Institute — a graduate level research facility for the College of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science.
