SACRAMENTO, Calif.—-The State of California allocated $960.7 million for school construction projects across the state this week, the largest distribution of school facility funds in more than a year.

The Rhea County Commission and Rhea County School Board met Tuesday afternoon to take a more informed look at where the county stood financially in terms of funding the construction of a new Rhea County High School.

Guilford County Schools held a groundbreaking ceremony as construction projects got underway at Southeast High School and Southeast Middle School.

Teachers said the new school is an answered prayer.

A Belleville-based construction company has been selected to pour the concrete foundation of the new high school for the cost of $896,000.

In mid April the Hornell City School Districts capital project work began at the high school, with construction crews starting demolishing at the cafeteria and kitchen and the start of the building of new music, art and technology areas.
